
Ambar Roy was a left-handed batsman who played for the Indian national cricket team in 4 Tests in 1969. He was born in 1945 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He made his debut against New Zealand at Nagpur scoring 48. He played for Bengal in Ranji trophy for almost two decades. He served as a Bengal selector for 15 years and also served as a national selector from 1984 to 1986. He was the nephew of the former Indian international cricketer Pankaj Roy. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 52 years.
