Arvind Apte

Arvind Apte is an erstwhile Indian cricketer who played a solitary Test for India in 1959. Based on his performance at home, he was included in the Indian side on the tour of England in 1959 as a reserve opener. His best performance was 165 against Derbyshire. He got his break to represent India in the third Test at Leeds following an injury to Nari Contractor. But he failed to make a big score getting out for 8 and 7.  He continued to play first class cricket till 1972. He was born in 1934 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His brother Madhav Apte also played Test cricket for India. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 79 years.
