Ashok Malhotra was a right-handed batsman who represented the Indian national cricket team in Tests and ODIs. He played in 7 Tests and 20 ODIs for India between 1982 and 1986. He was born in 1957 in Amritsar, Punjab. At one time, he was the highest scorer in Ranji trophy. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the World Championship of Cricket in Australia in 1985. He coached Team India for a brief period in the absence of then coach John Wright. He played for Bengal in the domestic competition and also coached the Bengal senior cricket team.
