Bishan Singh Bedi

Bishan Singh Bedi is one of the famous spinners of India who represented the Indian national cricket team in 67 Tests and 10 ODIs between 1966 and 1979. He was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler who was part of the famous spin quartet of India along with B. S. Chandrasekhar, E. A. S. Prasanna and Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan. He made his debut in domestic cricket for Northern Punjab at the age of 15. Later he shifted to Delhi in 1968-69 and took a record 64 wickets in the 1974–75 season of the Ranji Trophy. He took more wickets than any other Indian player in first class cricket (1560 wickets). He also played for Northamptonshire in English county cricket for many years. He became captain of the Indian national side in 1976. Under his captaincy, India won the 3rd Test against West Indies at Port of Spain in the 1976 series in which India chased a then record 406 in the fourth innings. He also served as the coach of the Indian national side in 1990. He was born in 1946 in Amritsar, Punjab. He was very outspoken throughout his career.
