C. R. Rangachari was a fast bowler who played for the Indian national cricket team in four Tests. He took 4 for 141 on his Test debut against Australia at Adelaide in 1947-48 picking up the wickets of Neil Harvey, Keith Miller, Ray Lindwall and Ian Johnson. His best performance was against West Indies when he took 5 for 107 at Delhi. He appeared in unofficial Tests against Australian Services Team in 1945-46 and against the first Commonwealth team in 1949-50. He played for Madras in the domestic competition and also captained the side.
