Jahangir Khan

Jahangir Khan represented India in cricket during the British rule. He played four Test matches for India in the 1930s. An attacking right-handed batsman and a medium pace bowler, he played India’s inaugural Test at Lord’s in 1932 taking four wickets in the second innings for 60 runs off 30 overs. In the first innings, he remained wicketless. He scored 448 at an average of 19.47 and took 53 wickets at an average of 29.05 in the first class matches on the tour. He played for Cambridge for several years while studying at Cambridge University. He joined the Indian team when it toured England in 1936 and appeared in all three Tests. He failed to take a wicket and scored 13 in the two innings at Lord’s. He played first class cricket until 1955-56 captaining Northern India in 1940-41 and 1941-42. After independence, he served as an administrator of the game in Pakistan. His son Majid Khan played Test cricket for Pakistan.
