M. L. Jaisimha

M. L. Jaisimha was an Indian cricketer who played in 39 Tests for India. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace and a right-arm offbreak bowler. He was also an outstanding fielder. He was born in 1939 in Secunderabad, British India. He made his first class debut for Hyderabad at the age of 15 against Andhra Pradesh in the 1954–55 Ranji Trophy. He was the first batsman to bat on all five days of a Test match. He made his debut against England at Lord’s in 1959 at the age of 20. He scored his highest total of 129 against England at Kolkata in 1963-64. He smashed 74 and 101 when called up as a replacement in the third Test against Australia in 1968. The tour of West Indies in 1970-71 was his last Test series. After retirement from cricket, he served as a selector and was also a television commentator. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 60.
