Narain Swamy

Narain Swamy was an Indian cricketer who played in one Test for India. He was born in 1924 in Kozhikode, Kerala. He was primarily a right-arm fast-medium bowler who made his Test debut against New Zealand at Hyderabad in the first match of the series in 1955/56. He opened the bowling for India with Dattu Phadkar, remained wicketless and was dropped as India tried out various opening bowling pairs in every match of the series. That remained his only Test match. In the domestic arena, he represented Services in the Ranji trophy from 1951/52 to 1958/59 taking 68 wickets at an average of 22.16. He was the first cricketer from Kerala to play for India. He passed away in 1983 aged 58 years.
