Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was a renowned Pakistani musician. He was mainly a Qawwali singer who is credited with popularizing Qawwali music internationally. He is popularly known as the “The King of Qawwali”. He was a internationally famous artist. He travelled widely performing at prestigious events and concerts in more than 40 countries. He was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan in 1948. He has released numerous albums and did playback for several Pakistani and Bollywood films. He lent his voice in Bollywood films like Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Kartoos and Kachche Dhaage .

He was a doyen and often considered as one of the progenitors of “world music”. He was conferred many honorary titles including President of Pakistan’s Award for Pride of Performance for his contribution to Pakistani music. He was awarded the UNESCO Music Prize in 1995 and a host of other awards were bestowed upon him.
