Phiroze Palia

Phiroze Palia was an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian national side in two Tests. He was an attractive and wristy left-handed batsman and a useful slow left-arm orthodox bowler who appeared in two Tests, both the occasions at Lord’s in 1932 and 1936. In the 1932 match, he batted at number eleven in the second innings due to a hamstring injury sustained while fielding in a futile attempt to save the match. He again played at Lord’s during the 1936 tour of England. He played domestic cricket for several teams. His highest first class score of 216 was made while playing for United Provinces against Maharashtra in 1939-40. After his retirement, he served as a Test selector and radio commentator.
