Probir Sen

Probir Sen was an Indian cricketer who played for India in 14 Tests between 1948 and 1952. He was an impressive wicketkeeper-batsman who was included for the Australian tour in 1947-48 as the reserve keeper to Jenni Irani. After impressive performances in first class matches, he made to the side in the third Test at Melbourne. He took four catches in the fifth Test which was also played in Melbourne. He stumped legendary Don Bradman in a four-day match against South Australia in 1947–48 and was the only Indian wicketkeeper to do so. He played in all five Tests in the series against West Indies at home in 1948-49. He played a key role in the famous victory for India against England at Madras in 1951–52 when he effected five stumpings (four in the first innings) all of Vinoo Mankad. He was also an occasional bowler who registered a hat-trick in a Ranji trophy match for Bengal against Orissa in 1954-55. He was the first Bengali to play for India in Tests and also was the first Bengali to keep wickets for India.
