Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar was an all-rounder who represented the Indian national cricket team in 12 Tests and 15 ODIs. He started his career playing for the youth teams of Maharashtra and Mumbai but at the state level he represented Railways since 1993–94 seasons. Railways reached the final of the Ranji trophy in the 2000–01 seasons losing out to Baroda. In the following year Railways won the trophy. Bangar’s performance led to his inclusion to the Indian team for their matches against England in the 2001–02 seasons. He was the captain of the Railways team that won the Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy in 2004-05. He was also the captain of the Railways team that won the Ranji Trophy One Day National Championship in 2005-06. He played a major role in India’s innings victory away from home during the 2002 tour of England. He made key contributions to India’s 7 Test match wins. He was born in 1972 in Beed, Maharashtra. He represented Deccan Chargers and later Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He retired from cricket in 2013 after playing for 20 years. After retiring from cricket, he took up coaching assignments. He coached India A and also served as batting coach and head coach of the Indian national cricket team. He was also the head coach of Kings XI Punjab at the IPL 2014. At present, he is the assistant coach of the Indian national cricket team.
