Sudhir Naik was a right-handed opening batsman who represented the Indian National cricket team in 3 Tests and 2 ODIs in 1974. He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra in 1945. He represented Bombay at the domestic level and led the side to a Ranji trophy win in 1970-71. He was the captain of the Bombay side in Ranji trophy for several years and had a good track record in the domestic competition. Besides as a coach, he also served as a ground-curator at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. He prepared the pitch and the outfield at the Wankhede Cricket Ground where the 2011 World Cup final took place. India won the cup and his efforts were lauded.
