V. M. Muddiah

V. M. Muddiah was an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian national side in 2 Tests between 1959 and 1960. He was a right-arm off break bowler and a useful right-hand tail end batsman. He was born in 1929 in Bangalore, Karnataka. He went wicket less on his Test debut against Australia in 1959-60 at Dehli. In the next season against Pakistan at Kanpur, he took the wickets of Mushtaq Mohammad, Hanif Mohammad and Imtiaz Ahmed and scored 11 batting at No. 10, helping Polly Umrigar to add 61 runs for the ninth wicket. He had many memorable performances in Ranji trophy. He took 8 for 54 for Services against Southern Punjab in 1949 and took 5 for 2 for Services against Jammu & Kashmir in 1961-62. Another notable performance was when he took six wickets in eight overs for Mysore against Bombay in Ranji trophy semifinal in 1951-52 but still ended up on the losing side. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 80.
