Devang Gandhi is a former opening batsman who played in four Test and three ODIs for Indian national cricket team. He scored 75 in the second innings and put on 137 runs for the opening wicket with Sadagoppan Ramesh on his Test debut at Mohali against New Zealand in 1999. He scored 88 and 31 in the second Test and was the top scorer for India as India won the match and the series 1-0. Based on his form, he was picked for the Australia tour in 1999-2000. But the tour turned out disastrous for him as he was uncomfortable in handling short and rising deliveries. He appeared in two ODIs against Australia in the tri-nation series that followed the Tests scoring 6 and 13 in the two games and did not play for India again. He featured in 95 first class games in his career scoring 6111 runs at an average of 42.73.
